Community investment in the mountain
WHY BIG ROCK EXISTS
Accessible Winter Recreation. Stronger Community.
Our mission is to keep Mars Hill Mountain open and accessible to the people of Aroostook County for downhill alpine skiing and snowboarding. We serve our region by providing affordable, family-friendly activities that support healthy lifestyles and help people enjoy winter together.
Instruction for all ages, a strong focus on youth programs and incentives such as free season passes for qualifying seniors help keep skiing within reach across generations. Skiing is a Maine tradition, and Big Rock exists to keep that tradition alive by building youth interest and creating opportunities to stay active outdoors.

WHAT THE MISSION LOOKS LIKE
People. Community. Opportunity.
Big Rock is more than a ski area. It is a regional gathering place and a resource worth investing in.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE
Infrastructure That Keeps Big Rock Moving
Recent community investment helped deliver a new summit quad, snowmaking improvements and new grooming equipment. These are not just capital projects. They are tools that help Big Rock operate more reliably and serve the community better.

MORE THAN A SKI AREA
A Regional Resource
Big Rock supports quality of life, outdoor access and economic vitality in Northern Maine. The mountain is stronger because families, schools, volunteers, businesses and guests continue to show up for it.
LOCAL LEADERSHIP
Big Rock Board of Directors
Big Rock is overseen by local leaders who believe in the mountain’s role in our community and its future.
