A DAY WITH THE PATROL

From First Chair to Final Sweep

Patrol is part of the mountain from before the first guest arrives until everyone is safely off the hill.

Opening the Mountain

Before guests arrive, patrollers check radios and equipment and head out onto the mountain. They inspect trails and lifts for hazards, ice, exposed objects, damaged fencing or anything else that needs attention.

During the Day

When someone is injured, patrollers assess the situation, provide first aid, stabilize the patient when necessary and determine the safest way to get them off the mountain. That can mean skiing to the scene with medical equipment, using a toboggan or coordinating a more serious evacuation.

Closing the Mountain

At the end of the day, patrol has one of its most important jobs left: making sure everyone is off the mountain. Patrollers sweep the trails, check closed areas and make sure no guests are left behind.

TRAIN. PREPARE. STAY INFORMED.
